Sparrow Bloom Storefront Coming Downtown Lansing

Back in April, we started writing this blog post about our storefront opening in Downtown Lansing in early summer 2023. Little did we know that our journey would have so many ups and downs in the last few months, but we are so excited that we finally found our flower shop home and are opening on July 27th!

It has been a long time coming. This journey began two years ago when our neighbor, Bob, and Downtown Lansing Inc. started putting the idea in our heads to join downtown or the Middle Village Micro Market.

Finally, this winter, we decided to take the plunge to grow our business, and we couldn't be more excited to share the space and vision with you!

Specialty Flowers, Plants, Curated Gifts + More!

From the beginning, we knew we wanted to fill our retail space with other locally-owned small businesses. We've built so many relationships with amazing people over the years that we couldn't wait to provide a physical space for them to retail their items downtown as well. One thing that kind of evolved as we started buying items for the store was that our love for vintage came out!

We were blending the gorgeous custom tables that Megan from Tiny Bit of Wood was building for us with some mid-century modern vintage pieces when it hit us that we wanted to sell curated vintage items in our store, not just have vintage decor.

We're so excited to see everything coming together as we unpack, and we are always adding new items to the shop!

Floral Design Workshop Space

Over the last two years, our workshops have been something that we have grown to love, and we are always looking forward to the next class!

It's so much fun to combine our love for flowers and backgrounds in education to create something beautiful with our community. We've been grateful for our partnership with the Graduate Hotel and Bridge + Main Market for allowing us to use their spaces in the past, but we know that we needed our own dedicated space for workshops.

Our business was built around Kait's kitchen table, so it was a no-brainer to have Megan build us modern farmhouse tables that could transform our space from retail to a workshop and allow us to welcome other small businesses from the community to use our space for workshops as well.

It will also allow us to welcome more private workshops and businesses coming in for team-building activities.

We cannot wait to welcome workshops and classes all year long!

Wedding + Event Consultation Area

We've poured our heart and soul into creating a cozy seating area that exudes a warm, welcoming vibe, complete with carefully selected vintage furniture. Our hearts are brimming with anticipation to finally have a space where we can relax, sit down, and connect with our cherished clients, planners, and the wonderful members of our community!

It's a dream come true, and we can't wait to share this inviting space with you all!

The star of the show, which we have planned the space around, is the chartreuse floral couch that we got from Off Skate Vintage. It will be surrounded by lots of boho accents and plants! A huge shoutout to Amy at Vintage Junkies for helping us so beautifully curate this space and bring our vision to life.

Last but certainly not least is our design space. With the dedicated space for storage, designing, and a walk-in cooler, we can execute our dreams of expanding our wedding offers to include pick up weddings and full services weddings.

This is probably the least glamorous part of the space, but it will be a game-changer for our business and so amazing to have all our stuff organized in one space instead of being all over the place, making it work with a makeshift studio in our home and garage.

Exciting Construction Plans for Our Future Home

Not only are we moving into our Cedar Street location this summer, but we'll be moving across the street to 505 Shiawassee in December!

As we embark on this new chapter of growth and expansion, we are thrilled to announce that our first location will serve as our temporary home while our permanent flower shop undergoes construction. Starting this summer, we will be breaking ground on a magnificent new space that will perfectly embody our vision. With the Gillespie Group's team's careful planning and attention to detail, we aim to create a botanical haven that will take your breath away.

While the construction work is underway, we will operate from our Cedar Street location, pouring our love and passion into every arrangement and welcoming our community.

The countdown has begun, and we anticipate moving into our stunning new space early in winter, just in time to spread the holiday cheer with winter wreaths and a holiday market. We sincerely thank you for your continued support and look forward to welcoming you to our new home in the near future.

Stay tuned for updates as we embark on this exciting transformation!
